MICROBIOLOGICAL AND NUTRITIONAL QUALITY OF SUPPLEMENTARY FOOD FEEDING AT INTEGRATED HEALTH POST (POSYANDU KEPUHARJO VILAGE) KECAMATAN KARANGPLOSO KABU

Background : The best think would be for the baby gives mother’s milk, because it is the main food for baby and contains the most of nutrition which needed for baby. Mother’s milk not enough for baby in more than 6 months years old, so they are need food feeding to avoid malnutrition in baby. In the meantime, the problem of food safety is a complex problem. Food with bad microbiological quality can caused poisoned like diarrhea. The supplementary food feeding at integrated health post (Posyandu Kepuharjo village) have the high risk in damage.
Objective : The purpose of the study was to describe the microbiological and nutritional quality of food feeding at integrated health post (Posyandu Kepuharjo village) Kecamatan Karangploso Kabupaten Malang.
Methodology : This study used a observational cross sectional study, over a period in a month. Detailed observational data of microbiological and nutritional quality were collected, and were assessed in Food Laboratory of Brawijaya University Malang.
Results : Result of this study showed that the microbiological quality are not so good, because supplementary food feeding was contained Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. Beside that, the nutritional quality are not so good too, because the nutritional of supplementary food feeding was less than standard of nutrition.
Conclusion : It is concluded that microbiological and nutritional quality of supplementary food feeding are not so good.
Recommendation : The results suggest that supplementary food feeding must save in the clear place and free by contaminant. Beside that, the supplementary food feeding can be replace with pudding modisco which have higher nutrition (proteins, lipids, and carbohydrates).
